Terms and Conditions

Last updated: September 17, 2026

Draft for legal review. This document is a starting point prepared for Advent Lighthouse Ministries. It has not been reviewed by an attorney. Items shown in square brackets must be confirmed and the whole document reviewed by qualified legal counsel before it is relied upon.

1. Agreement to these terms

These Terms and Conditions (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of the website at adventlighthouse.org and any content, materials, downloads, videos, forms and services made available through it (together, the “Site”).

By using the Site you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

2. Who we are

The Site is operated by Advent Lighthouse Ministries (“the Ministry”, “we”, “us” or “our”), located at PO Box 863261, Plano, Texas 75086, United States. [Confirm the full registered legal name and entity type, for example “Advent Lighthouse Ministries, a Texas nonprofit corporation”.]

[Confirm whether the Ministry is recognised as tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and add the EIN if donor receipts will reference it.]

3. Permitted use of the Site

You may use the Site for personal, non-commercial purposes and for the Ministry’s stated purpose of sharing the Gospel. You agree not to:

  • use the Site in any way that breaks the law or infringes the rights of others;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Site, its accounts, or its underlying systems;
  • interfere with or disrupt the Site, including by introducing malware or automated scraping that places an unreasonable load on it;
  • use the Site to send unsolicited messages, or to harass, threaten or endanger any person;
  • misrepresent your identity or your affiliation with the Ministry.

We may suspend or restrict access to the Site at any time to protect it or the people who use it.

4. Our content and your permission to share it

Unless stated otherwise, the text, images, video, audio, study materials and design on the Site are owned by the Ministry or used with permission, and are protected by copyright and other laws.

You are welcome to share our Gospel materials. You may download, copy, print and distribute the Bible studies, booklets and videos we make freely available, provided that you: (a) do not charge for them; (b) do not alter their content or meaning; and (c) do not present them as your own work. Any other use, including commercial use or republication with modifications, requires our written permission.

Our name, logo and branding may not be used in a way that suggests endorsement or affiliation without our written permission.

5. Materials from third parties

Some materials on the Site are produced by other ministries, publishers or speakers and remain the property of their owners. The permission described above does not extend to those materials; their own terms apply.

6. Donations

Donations made through the Site support the Ministry’s work. Unless required by law, donations are non-refundable. [Confirm the Ministry’s refund and correction policy, for example a window in which a duplicate or mistaken gift may be refunded.]

We use the donation to further the Ministry’s purposes. Where a gift is offered for a specific project, we apply it to that project; if that project is complete or cannot proceed, we may apply the gift to a similar purpose.

[Confirm the wording of any tax-deductibility statement, including that no goods or services were provided in exchange for the gift, before donors rely on it.] The Ministry does not provide tax advice; please consult your own adviser.

Payments are handled by third-party payment processors. Your use of those services is subject to their terms and privacy policies, and we do not store your full payment card details.

7. Books and other products

Some books and materials are sold through third-party retailers and publishers. Orders placed with those retailers are agreements between you and the retailer, and their terms, pricing, shipping and return policies apply. We are not responsible for their fulfilment.

[If the Ministry sells any item directly through this Site, add the order, pricing, shipping, delivery and returns terms that apply to those sales.]

8. Messages you send us

When you contact us through the Site, you are responsible for the accuracy of what you send and for having the right to send it. Please do not send confidential information, payment card details, or anything you would not want stored in an email inbox.

If you send us a testimony, story, photograph or other material and ask us to share it, you give us permission to publish and distribute it in the Ministry’s work unless you tell us otherwise. You can ask us to stop using it at any time.

We are mindful that some of those who contact us live where following Jesus carries real risk. We handle correspondence with care, but no website or email service can guarantee security. Please use your own judgement about what you send us and how.

9. Links to other sites

The Site links to other websites and services, including video platforms and social media. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, availability, or the way they handle your information. Their terms and privacy policies apply when you use them.

10. Privacy

Our handling of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

11. Spiritual and other content

The Site shares religious teaching, Bible study material and personal testimony. It is offered in good faith for encouragement and study. It is not legal, medical, financial, immigration or psychological advice, and it is not a substitute for professional help. If you are in crisis or in danger, please contact the appropriate emergency or professional services where you are.

12. Availability and disclaimer of warranties

We work to keep the Site available and accurate, but we provide it “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free, or that any defect will be corrected.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Ministry and its directors, officers, employees, volunteers and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, goodwill or opportunity, arising out of or relating to your use of the Site.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the Site will not exceed [confirm an amount, for example one hundred US dollars (US$100), or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim].

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Ministry and its directors, officers, employees, volunteers and agents from any claim, loss or expense, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of your misuse of the Site or your breach of these Terms.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they were last changed. Continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept the updated Terms. If a change is significant, we will make reasonable efforts to highlight it.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. [Confirm the venue for disputes, for example the state and federal courts located in Collin County, Texas, and whether the Ministry wishes to require arbitration or waive jury trial.]

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect.

17. Contact us

Questions about these Terms can be sent to admin@adventlighthouse.org, or by post to Advent Lighthouse Ministries, PO Box 863261, Plano, Texas 75086, United States.
